MALDA KYOTO

A vegan cafe and small luxury hotel.  Full renovation of a four-story, 50-year-old building in Kyoto, in collaboration with lifestyle brand Jurgen Lehl's Babaghuri.  Babaghuri is known for its unique brand philosophy created by team Jurgen Lehl, which addresses discourses around the relationship to nature and human artifacts. 

This project was born from the desire to share the values of the philosophy shared, through the food, space and hospitality services and ultimately give the guests inspiration to examine their own lives through the thoughtfully designed experience.

In planning a hotel, we abandoned the general theory of hotel planning that tried to create many rooms, and instead provided only three spacious rooms of 60 square meters each. While deliberately excluding stereotypical and wasteful hotel amenities, equipment, and services as much as possible, it offers a guests to slowly flow with time and space, giving guests time for personal reflection.  A unique space has been created on each floor, blending itself inside a Kyoto city while giving guests to focus on the living with the basics. 
 

ライフスタイルブランド「ババグーリ」との協働により、京都の築50年のビルを改修して創ったヴィーガンカフェと3室だけのラグジュアリーホテルです。​

この計画は、自然や人為物とどう向き合うべきかを考え抜いてたどり着いたババグーリブランド独自の「暮らしの哲学」を、食・空間・サービスを通じて感じてもらい、そしてゲスト自身の暮らしを見つめ直す場きっかけになればという思いから立ち上がりました。

ホテルにおいては部屋数を無理に多くすることを避け、部屋は3室のみ。「ホテルらしい」アメニティーや備品、サービスをできるだけ排除しながら、自分と向き合える、ゆっくりと流れる時間とそれを包み込む空間を提供しています。街と溶け合いながら、プリミティブに暮らす感覚になれる独自の空間が生まれました。
